A new, single phase electric drive pressure cleaner is proving a huge success with both professional and consumer buyers. Part of Aussie Pumps’ state of the art “Scud” range, the new blasters provide features to users who want longevity, performance and heavy duty design.
Called the Aussie Scud BB100E, it uses a combination of a heavy duty, triplex, professional pump, slow speed four pole squirrel cage motor and robust galvanised frame. It offers customers benefits not found in imported European or Chinese pressure cleaners.
“The new machine was originally designed for Australia’s plant rental and hire industry,” said Aussie Pumps’ Product Manager, Hamish Lorenz. “The product launch last year resulted in sales not just to rentals but into earthmoving, building and construction and, more recently, into consumer market areas where traditionally buyers only buy on price!” he said.
Australian Pump Industries is regarded as Australia’s leading manufacturer of high pressure cleaning equipment. The company’s two and a half acre works and warehouse complex is situated in Sydney’s boutique Norwest business district. There, a dedicated design team focus on developing better cleaning products. The results have been in safer, faster and more efficient cleaning.
The new machine features a Bertolini “Big Berty” heavy duty, slow speed, triplex pump with brass head and big, multi fin, die-cast crank case. The crank case has an oil chamber that provides lubrication for the crank chamber and cooling for the entire pump.
Like all Aussie Pump built pressure cleaners, the machine comes with ASP (Aussie Safety Protection) that includes a heavy duty independent regulator valve that controls pressure and flow. A super robust control switch, the heaviest duty of its kind in the industry, provides electrical protection. It automatically cuts power to the motor if the unit is overloaded or overheats.
With operator convenience in mind, the company designed a unique galvanised frame, colloquially nick named “car boot” style. The frame incorporates a folding handle enabling the unit to fit easily into an average car boot. It also doubles as a trolley, not only protecting the pump but also making it highly mobile. “It’s just as much at home on a building or construction site as it is in the backyard cleaning pavers or motor vehicles,” said Lorenz.
The high pressure hose is wire braid complying with SAE Standard R1. It combines lightweight strength with an abrasion resistant rubber cover.
With a 10m hose the operator can walk around a vehicle without having to change the machine’s position. This extra flexibility is both convenient and safer on just about any professional or cleaning job.
Guns supplied are rated to 3,500 psi and provide the customer with the option of being able to change lances from standard 700mm to longer lances for cleaning hard to get at locations.
The company has also developed a wide range of labour saving accessories to go with the new Scud. They include turbo lances that multiply the pressure effect, getting work done faster and more efficiently, grit blast kits for stripping paint or rust and an extension wand called the “Telewand” that enables the operator to safely clean awnings.
Hose reels are also available for long length hoses if required. They can be fitted to the machines or wall mounted to store extra-long hose lengths safely.
“Some of our customers have even adapted these great little machines for drain cleaning and plumbers are using them to clean out blocked drains in buildings that can’t be accessed by an engine drive jetter,” said Lorenz.
The machines are expected to sell in South East Asia and Africa as well as in Australia. These areas have similar requirements to Australia where reliability and robust components are essential.
“People tell us it looks like a tank when what you can buy in the big box hardware stores all look like a Ferrari,” laughed Lorenz.” Our machine may not be as pretty or be designed by Pininfarina but it will last much longer than a throwaway Bunnings special and will give the client a glow of satisfaction every time he uses it,” he said.
