Furphy Uses Aussie Fire Chief

Furphys Fire Fighting kit uses the world’s best fire pump, the Aussie Fire Chief.

Furphy Goes Aussie

Model: Aussie Fire Chief

Legendary mobile tanker manufacturer, Furphy Engineering has released a new heavy duty water cart that features an Aussie Fire Chief.   The heavy duty fully galvanised trailer mount is designed for a wide range of applications including fire fighting, machinery wash down and transfer.

The Aussie Fire Chief was chosen for this important application because its features are consistent with Furphy’s engineering standards.   The Aussie Fire Chief is regarded as being the world’s finest light weight portable high pressure fire pump and has enjoyed great success not only in Australia but around the world.

The pump comes with a unique 5 year warranty and is loaded with features.  It boasts a huge 7½” diameter, one piece impeller that weighs more than 2½ times most competitors. The big impeller is superbly balanced and matched to a purpose built volute to provide maximum efficiency.

Designed to handle flows of up to 550 lpm and pressures of over 100 psi, the Fire Chief is built tough, to suit even the most difficult conditions.

“We think it makes a great match for Furphy’s heavy duty trailer mounted water cart because of its robust design and high performance” said Aussie Pumps Product Manager Brad Farrugia.  “The pump features a huge flanged 2” suction port that gets more water into the pump” he said.

“More water in means more water out” said Farrugia, “That accounts for the machine’s tremendous performance”.

The big belly body on the pump holds plenty of water and ensures fast priming, first time, every time.  The pump will suck water through a vertical lift of 7.6 metres, a record for this type of equipment!

The Furphy unit comes with a 950 litre fully galvanised tank, hot dipped, for maximum corrosion resistance.   It is mounted on a big robust galvanised trailer with 16” 4WD wheels and supplied with heavy duty rubber torsion suspension.

Hydraulic override brakes are standard and the trailer is rated for a towing speed of up to 110 kms per hour.   The trailer is compact, rugged and reliable, designed for tough professional application.

A galvanised steel platform is built into the back of the trailer to enable personnel fighting fires to operate from the trailer while the machine is towed, making it ideal for putting out “spots”.

Although the primary application for the kit is fire fighting the machine makes a very effective earth moving machinery wash down unit.  “It can blast the tracks off a D10 Caterpillar dozer, clean motor scrapers or even disinfect combines and bean pickers in the field” said Farrugia.

Farmers love the rig’s versatility, using it for on farm jobs that include topping up stock water troughs, or watering trees and shrubs during their establishment stage.

The Aussie Fire Chief pump chosen comes as standard with a Honda 5.5 hp petrol engine.   The engine is covered by a 3 year warranty, almost matching the pump end’s unique Aussie 5 year guarantee!

Yanmar or Kubota diesel engine powered Fire Chief options are also available for those preferring the safety and security of a diesel drive.
