Fire Danger During Harvest

“Teaming an Aussie Mr T twin impeller pump with
a water cart provides emergency fire protection
during harvest.”

Red Hot Crop Danger

Model: Aussie Mr T 16th October 15

With record prices and good yields farmers are holding their breath for a good pay cheque this year. Many understand the fire danger during harvest and the devastation that can result with a simple exhaust spark from a combine.

Fires during harvest cause not only major crop damage with consequent financial losses, but could also cause the destruction of expensive harvesting equipment and even jeopardise the lives of operators.

“Smart operators are taking precautions like detailed cleaning of the engine bay to remove any build-up of flammable material,” said Aussie Pumps’ Product Manager, Brad Farrugia.  “We are also hearing from farmers who set up a fire pump on a water cart to shadow the combine as a precaution against accidental fires,” he added.

Aussie Pumps, Australia’s leader in fire pump design and development, has worked with farmers to develop pumps capable of providing real protection. “There is no point in having a 10,000 litre capacity water cart if the pump isn’t big enough to use that capacity effectively,” explained Farrugia.

The Aussie Mr T 2”x2” twin impeller pump is regarded by the market as a leader in its class.  To achieve its performance, the Aussie Mr T comes with a genuine Honda 9hp or 13hp petrol engine.  The pump is superbly matched with the engine’s capability, and is designed to get the most out of both pump and engine.

A diesel drive version is also available with a Yanmar 10hp electric start, air cooled, engine powering the big pump’s performance. Both engines offer loads of torque and allow the pump to be able to reach a whopping 95 metre head and still deliver a maximum flow up to 480 litres per minute.

The Aussie Mr T is available in either 2” or 3” configuration and delivers flows in excess of 200 litres per minute at 65 metre head.  An added bonus is the pump’s ability to draft water from creeks and dams.  It has a vertical suction lift of 7.6m. A sturdy galvanised roll frame with anti-vibration mounts is supplied as standard on all configurations.

“Not all twin impeller fire pumps are the same,” said Farrugia. “The Aussie Mr T’s deliver their outstanding performance because they are powered by big engines with sufficient torque,” he said.
