As the Eastern States receive another deluge from the La Nina weather pattern it’s cold comfort to the those living in flood prone areas that meteorologists predict the wet weather will continue through February.   In response however, Australian Pump, Australia’s leading manufacturer of diesel powered self priming pumps, has beefed up production of it’s trash pumps to accommodate the demand to move dirty water fast.

Aussie Pumps has a range of 2” through to 6” trash pumps that are specifically designed to handle flood mitigation duties. Top of the range is a huge 6,000 litre per minute 6” Aussie trailer mounted trash pump. This ability to pump up to 360,000 litres of water per hour was used to save the CBD of Horsham in the Victorian floods last year.

The 65 HP Deutz powered diesel drive trash pump was able to be quickly deployed because of it’s compact design and trailer mounting. The huge diesel drive 6” pump was used to divert water from Garden Estate stormwater basin, near the Wotonga basin, and from there into the Wimmera River.

“The demand for trash pumps has been incredible,” said Aussie Pumps Product Manager Brad Farrugia. “Specialist units like these are able to move large volumes of water, even if it’s contaminated with solids, without damaging the pump,” he said.

Like all Aussie Quik Prime pumps, the big 6” trash handling unit will self prime through a vertical lift of 7.6 metres.  That self priming characteristic means that it primes first time, every time because of the huge tank designed into the pump casing.  The unique Aussie system enables the pump to purge itself quickly of air, once the engine started, drawing water up through the suction line within a matter of minutes.

All the Aussie trash pump range will handle solids in suspension. This is achieved this through a unique “non-clog” style impeller that is the heart of the pumps’ design.  An easy clean out port mounted on the front of the unit enables the pump chamber to be cleared of debris within a matter of minutes without the need to disconnect pipe work.

The Aussie range includes 2”, 3” and 4” petrol engine drive portable trash pumps that offer flows of up to 1800 litres per minute and the ability to handle spherical solids of up to 2 inches.

In the diesel range, bigger machines designed specifically for large projects are available with flows of up to 6,000 litres per minute, and heads to 35 metres.  These big 4” and 6” pumps are able to handle solids of up to 3 inches diameter making them ideal for handling contaminated liquids, including flood mitigation and quarry dewatering tasks.  The big machines come either skid or trailer mounted making them easy to move around on site.

Most Aussie Quik Prime trash pumps are covered by a five year extended warranty, the only product of it’s kind to offer that level of guarantee free of charge.

“Our pumps are made to strict ISO9001 quality standard, giving us the confidence to offer a warranty not available from other manufacturers” said Farrugia. “The extensive range are suitable for a wide variety other jobs too jobs including tank and dam cleaning, as well as fast fill tanker duties” he said.
